New video for Astronautalis! He’s on tour now. Astronautalis.com
This video is a humble effort to capture a little bit of Andy’s live energy and a slice of his life, which is spent nearly endlessly on the road. This video came about when Andy rolled into LA and we decided to make a video then and there. We had zero dollars, 48 hours, 3 shows, shot on one camera, one lens, and lit with one light hooked up to the battery of my truck, using only andy’s iphone as our playback. A half dozen or so cups of coffee and glasses of whiskey later and we had a video.
If you haven’t seen Astronautalis’ live show you are doing it wrong. His freestyles alone are worth the price of admission, but stay for the meticulously crafted hip hop performed with such fervor you’re afraid Andy might have an embolism. I’ve never taken anyone to one of his shows that wasn’t completely won over. I’ve been to a handful of Andy’s shows all over the country and it’s always the same. You could put money on much of the audience knowing his songs front to back, album by album. Andy and the audience buy each other drinks during the show and afterward. He talks to anyone and everyone that has something to say to him.
It’s like thanksgiving dinner with a lot of yelling. Good yelling. and Whiskey.
